Extending contracts

If you have the appropriate security privileges, Poetic allows you to extend the duration of a contract.

When the extension process is complete, the new contract end date displays on the contract. Poetic also provides an option to extend the end dates of the entitlements associated with the contract.

You can ONLY extend a contract if the contract:

To extend a contract:

  1. On the Asset menu, click Contracts.

    The Search Contracts page displays.

  2. To display a list of contracts, specify contract search criteria, then click the Search Contracts button.

    If you belong to an end customer, the list of contracts for your company displays automatically.

  3. Click the Options link for the contract you want to extend, then select Edit Contract. The Options list on the View Contract page also contains an option to edit the contract.

    The General tab of the Contract Maintenance page displays.

  4. In the Action on Contract section, click the Extend Contract button.

    The Change Contract Terms page displays.

  5. In the Change contract end date to field, type the new contract end date.
  6. In the email confirmation to field, type the email address where confirmation of this transaction can be sent.
  7. In the Order Options section, click the radio button next to one of the following options:
    Do not create an extension order The contract is extended to the specified date, but an extension order is not created.
    Create a no charge extension order An extension order is created, but the customer is not charged for the contract extension.
    Create an extension order and apply standard pricing for this contract An extension order is created and the customer is charged for the extension. The pricing for this order is automatically calculated.
  8. Click Next.

    The Contract Terms Confirmation page displays.

  9. Verify the information and add any notes.

    To accept the changes, click Finish.

    The Transaction Scheduled page displays.

    When the transaction is complete, a confirmation is sent to the email address provided on the Change Contract Terms page.
