The regenerate keys function allows you to regenerate the keys on a selected machine or registration certificate. During the regenerate process, you are able to change the activation details, except for the locking ID. You cannot use the regenerate key function to move activated items to a different machine.
Regenerating the keys resolves any missing or out-of-sync keys on the machine or registration certificate.
On the Activation menu, click Regenerate keys.
The Search Certificates to Regenerate Keys page displays to allow you to select the machine or registration certificate for which to regenerate keys. See Searching for machines or registration certificates to manage activated items for details. The page also includes a Batch Regenerate Keys link to allow you to regenerate keys on multiple machines. See Regenerating keys for multiple machines.
In the search results, click the Regenerate link for the machine or registration certificate for which to regenerate keys.
For machines, the Regenerate page of the Regenerate Keys process displays.
For registration certificates, if the confirmation step is required, the Confirm page displays. Otherwise, the Complete page displays.
The Options list in the View Certificate page toolbar also includes a Regenerate Keys option.
For machines, selecting that option displays the Regenerate page of the Regenerate Keys process.
For registration certificates, if the confirmation step is required, the Confirm page displays. Otherwise, the Complete page displays.
When regenerating keys for a machine certificate, you may be allowed to change some of the activation details used to generate the key.
The Regenerate page of the Regenerate Keys process prompts you to provide any updated information.
Note that for termed or emergency keys, you cannot change the expiration date during the regenerate keys process.
After providing any updated activation details, click Next.
If the confirmation step is required, the Confirm page displays. Otherwise, the Complete page displays.
On the Confirm page, if required, check the check box to accept the legal terms and conditions for the key regeneration.
The Confirm page also includes fields for sending the machine or registration certificate.

Do not email certificate to registered user | If this check box is checked, then the registered user is not sent a copy of the updated certificate. If the check box is not checked, then whether the registered user receives the certificate depends on the system configuration. | ||||||||||||
Email to | In the Email to field, type the email address(es) to send the certificate to. Use commas to separate multiple addresses. | ||||||||||||

You may also provide notes concerning the key regeneration. Having notes for a transaction helps maintain the history of the activated items.
On the Confirm page, to complete the key regeneration, click Finish.
The Complete page displays the machine or certificate name, and may include a list of the updated keys.
