About missing keys

A missing key is a key for which the actual key value is missing. This usually occurs when data is migrated from another system into Poetic.

About out-of-sync keys

A key becomes out of sync if an update has occurred to the entitlement that causes issues with the key. Changes that may cause a key to be out of sync include:

• Changing the end customer on an entitlement
• Changing the expiration date on an entitlement
• Changing the entitlement product
• Reducing the entitlement quantity to be less than the activated quantity

How to resolve missing and out-of-sync keys

When you regenerate the keys for the entire machine, Poetic resolves both missing and out-of-sync keys. See Regenerating the keys on a machine.

For empty machines, if there are out-of-sync keys, the Overview tab of the View Certificate page includes an Update Keys button. Clicking this button updates the out-of-sync keys automatically without prompting you for any additional activation information.

For missing keys, on the Overview tab of the View Certificate page, each product line block includes a Regenerate missing keys option.

When you select this option, Poetic regenerates the missing keys without prompting you for any additional activation information.
