Selecting the upgrade path

In the Upgrade Path Selection section, if you have more than one option for performing the upgrade, select the correct option from the Upgrade path selection dropdown, then click Select.

When activating upgradeable entitlements, you also have the option to activate the current version instead of upgrading.

Specifying the quantity to upgrade

After you select the upgrade path, the Upgrade Path Selection section expands to include a table listing the available:

For each line, if you can set the quantity to upgrade, the Qty to Upgrade field is editable. For example, if you have 20 seats installed on a machine, you may want to upgrade only 10 of those seats.

After setting the quantities to upgrade, click Apply.

About providing proof of eligibility for the upgrade

Some upgrades require that you purchase upgrade entitlements in order to be eligible. If upgrade entitlements are required for the selected upgrade path, then the Proof of Upgrade Eligibility section displays beneath the Upgrade Path Selection section.

To display a list of the required upgrade entitlements, including the required quantity, click What's Required to Upgrade.

Requesting the required upgrade entitlements

If you have not yet purchased the required upgrade entitlements, then from the Proof of upgrade options dropdown, select I need to request the upgrades.

When you select this option, the list of required upgrade products and quantities displays. In the Request Qty column, type the quantity you need to request.

Applying existing LACs to meet the requirements

If you already purchased the required upgrade entitlements, then from the Proof of upgrade options dropdown, select I want to apply existing LACs or entitlements.

Selecting LACs to apply to the requirement

The LAC selection dropdown contains LACs you can apply to the upgrade requirement.

To apply a LAC to the upgrade requirement:

  1. Select the LAC from the dropdown.
  2. Click Add.

    The Qty Validated column in the entitlement list is updated to apply the available quantities from the selected LAC.

    The selected LAC is added to the LACs Applied list below the LAC selection dropdown.

To remove a selected LAC from the applied LACs, click the Remove link for that LAC. The Qty Validated column in the entitlement list is updated to remove the quantities from the removed LAC.

Managing the applied entitlements for each upgrade requirement

In the entitlement list, to view the details for the LACs to apply to an upgrade requirement, click View Details.

The Target qty is the value from the Qty Needed column.

Below that is a list of the current entitlements applied to the upgrade requirement. For each entitlement, the list includes:

You can use the Qty to Apply field to edit the quantity applied. To remove a selected LAC from the list, click the Remove link.

To manually add a new entitlement to the list:

  1. Click Add line.
  2. Click the Find link to search for and select the entitlement.
  3. In the Qty to Apply field, type the quantity to apply from the selected entitlement.

When you have finished making changes to the entitlement list, click Validate to update the validated quantity for the upgrade requirement.

When you have finished providing the upgrade information, click Next.
