Exporting Poetic Core and custom Jasper reports
Exporting Java reports vs. exporting Jasper reports
On the Search Reports page, the Export report settings option only exports the Poetic Java reports.
To copy the configuration of Jasper reports from one instance to another, you export each report separately.
Selecting the export option for a Jasper report
On the Report Maintenance page, to export a Jasper report, click the Export report toolbar option.
The Confirm page of the export process lists the report name and a summary of the data that will be exported.
To complete the export, click Finish.
Format and location of the exported report data
The Jasper report is exported to a .zip file, which is placed in the outbound JasperReportImportExport directory on the File Share. The file is named reportPubID_dateTime.zip.
The .zip file includes:
- An XML file containing:
- Report settings
- Report security setting. The exported file includes all of the security roles for the current instance. When the report is imported, Poetic ignores any security roles that are not on the new system.
- List values used by the report
- Report criteria survey questions
- Information about the output formats
- Report JRXML templates. The template content is exported from the database to JRXML files, using the file names from the database.
Importing the reports into another instance
To use the exported zip to create Jasper reports in another instance:
- On the instance where you exported the reports, download the zip file from the File Share. See Downloading files from the File Share.
- On the instance where you want to create the reports, upload the zip file to that instance's File Share. See Uploading files to the File Share.
