Uploading files to the File Share

About uploading files

Poetic supports several flat files for importing data into the Poetic database.

These files may be created manually, generated from an external system, or exported from another Poetic instance.

For the files to be loaded, they must be posted to a directory on the File Share. There is a different directory for each type of file.

The file upload function allows you to post the files from the Poetic UI.

About the upload process

The upload process allows you to upload one or more files of the same type.

When you complete the upload request, Poetic posts the files to the appropriate File Share directory.

If the file upload is processed by an event, then Poetic generates the event and also appends "poetc_upld_" to the front of the file name to indicate that the file was uploaded from the UI. This ensures that the file is not processed a second time.

To start the upload process:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Manage files.
  2. On the Search File Share page, click Upload files.
