Adding and editing external URLs for skins

About external URLs

If the publisher uses skins to display Poetic within the publisher's portal, then if you want to have skin-specific links to external URLs, you must maintain a list of those URLs in the Poetic database.

Each external URL is associated with a unique combination of skin and language.

Displaying the Filter External URLs page

You add and edit URLs from the Filter External URLs page. To display the page:

1. On the Administration menu, click Site maintenance.
2. On the Site Maintenance menu, click the Customization tab.
3. On the Customization tab, click External URLs.

To narrow the list in order to find the URL you want to edit or copy, specify search criteria, then click Filter External URLs. See Conducting searches for more information about searches.

Adding or editing an external URL

To add or edit an external URL from the Filter External URLs page:

• To add a URL, click Add external URL.
• To create a URL based on an existing URL, click the Copy link for the URL to copy.
• To edit a URL, click the Edit link for the URL.

Configuring the URL

On the External URL Maintenance page:

1. From the Skin dropdown, select the skin for which to use the URL.
2. In the URL name field, type the name of the URL.
3. From the Language dropdown, select the language for which to use the URL.
4. In the URL field, type the URL.
5. In the Description field, type a longer description of the URL and how it is used.
6. Click Save.
