Each user belongs to a single company. However, users may also have relationships with other companies, and those relationships may require that the user be able to view and manage the other companies' assets.
For example, a user at a channel company may need to be able to manage entitlements for their customers.
The user link function allows users to be linked to other companies. These links allow users to manage entitlements and activation for their linked companies.
User links are managed from the Search User Links page. To display the page, on the Administration menu, click User links.
You can only manage linked users for one company at a time.
If you are only able to view and manage the users linked to your own company, the linked users for your company display automatically when you select the option to manage user links. You can then use the remaining criteria to narrow the list.
If you can manage user links for other companies, then to display a list of user links, you must provide either:
Company name | This field only displays if you are able to manage user links for other companies.
In the Company name field, type the name of the company for which to display user links. The field supports partial criteria. To search for and select the company, click the find icon. When you click Search Links, the Company name field becomes a combo box listing the matching companies. If only one company matched the criteria, then the results for that company display. If more than one company matches the criteria, then to display the list of user links, select the correct company from the combo box, then click Search Links again. |
To search for a user link based on the user's email address, type the address into the field. The field supports partial criteria.
If you did not provide company criteria, and the email criteria match user links for more than one company, the matching companies are listed in the Company name combo box. |
|
Last name | To search for a user link based on the user's last name, type the last name into the field. The field supports partial criteria.
The last name can only be used in addition to the company name or email address. |
First name | To search for a user link based on the user's first name, type the first name into the field. The field supports partial criteria.
The first name can only be used in addition to the company name or user email address. |
To create a new user link for the selected company:
The User Link Maintenance form displays.
You cannot link end users to a channel company.
You cannot link end users or channel users to an ops tier company.
The form is updated with the user's name and address.
To remove a user link, click its Remove link.
