Configuring notifications for upgrade jobs

About the upgrade notification

When an upgrade job is run in execution mode, you can have an upgrade notification sent to end customers and a different notification sent to the dealer upgrade contact. The Notification tab is used to configure the upgrade notifications.

The notifications use the UPGRADE_TEMPLATE notification template. You can create different versions of the template for different types of jobs and for end customer vs. dealer contact recipients.

For each notification, you also can add additional text to include in the notification. The notification template includes a data tag used to insert this text.

Configuring the notification to send to end customer recipients

Selecting the template

From the End customer template dropdown, select the template to use to send the upgrade notification to end customers.

Check the check box next to each end customer recipient for the upgrade notifications. Each email address will only receive one copy of the notification. If you do not check any of the check boxes, then the upgrade notification is not sent. The available end customer recipients are:

Upgrade coordinator The upgrade coordinator for groups that have eligible entitlements.
Renewal coordinator The renewal coordinator for groups that have eligible entitlements.
Group coordinator The group coordinators for groups that have eligible entitlements.
Entitlement registered owner The registered owners of the eligible entitlements.
Machine registered user The most recent registered user on eligible machines or registration certificates.

Providing additional text to insert into the end customer notification

You use the Notification text field to provide additional customized text to include in the notification.

This text is used when the template ides the {AUTOMATED_UPGRADE_TEXT} data tag.

The text can include HTML markup.

Previewing the end customer notification

To preview the notification with the text you entered, click Preview Notification.

Note that only the {AUTOMATED_UPGRADE_TEXT} data tag will be replaced with actual content. All of the other tags will display as is.

Selecting the template

From the Channel recipient template dropdown, select the template to use to send the upgrade notification to the dealer contact.

Sending the notification to the dealer contact

To send the notification to the dealer contact, check the Dealer upgrade contact check box. Each email address will only receive one copy of the notification.

The upgrade contact is the email address provided on the Preferences tab of the Company Profile Maintenance page for dealer coordinators for groups that have eligible entitlements.
