The Poetic functionality available to each security role is determined by the security settings assigned to that role. Each security setting provides access to a specific Poetic function. For example, the CAN_MAINTAIN_OWN_COMPANY
setting determines whether a user can edit the company information for their own company.
The default settings for each security role are based on their security level. You can, however, assign any security setting to any security role.
To display the list of security setting categories:
The Security settings option is also available on the Frequent tab of the Site Maintenance menu.
Some of the security setting categories contain a large number of settings. You can filter these settings to narrow the lists to exactly the settings you want to set. For example, you may want to only view new settings from the latest Poetic upgrade.
To filter settings based on text in the setting name or description, enter the text in the Name/description field. For example, to search for all settings with the word "entitlement" anywhere in the name or description, type %entitlement%.
To filter settings based on when they were added to Poetic:
For example, to filter the settings to include only those settings added in build 1555:
After providing the criteria, click Filter Security Settings.
For each security category:
After you filter the security settings, to display the filtered list of security settings in a category, click the Edit link for the category.
The Configure Security Settings page displays, listing the filtered settings within the selected category.
The page includes a column for each security role, with a check box that indicates whether the security setting is assigned to that role. If the setting is locked, then the check boxes are disabled. A security setting usually is locked because it is associated with functionality that is not enabled for your instance of Poetic.
Poetic allows you to filter the list of security security roles to include only those roles assigned to a specific security level. This allows you to quickly add and remove security settings for all of the security roles for that level.
To filter the list to display the security roles assigned a specific security level:
The list is updated to show only the security roles assigned to the selected security level.
To enable a security setting for a single security role, check the check box in the security role column for that setting.
To disable a security setting for a single security role, uncheck the check box in the security role column for that setting.
To enable a security setting for all of the displayed security roles, click the Select All link for that security setting.
To disable a security setting for all of the displayed security roles, click the Clear All link for that security setting.
When you're finished editing the assignments, click Save.
A form displays to allow you to enter any notes concerning the changes to the security settings. The notes are recorded with the transactions for all of the settings that were changed.
Click Save to close the form and return to the Filter Security Settings page.
On the Filter Security Settings page, click Reset cache to reset the server cache to reflect the changes to the settings.
On the Configure Security Settings page, to display a list of the last 10 changes to a security setting, click the View transactions link for the setting.
