Configuring Registry settings

About Poetic Registry settings

Poetic uses Registry settings to control how each Poetic instance works. Registry settings are used to turns functions on and off, and to set default values.

For the most part, these Registry settings are set when Poetic is first installed. You should not need to change them. If you do decide to change them, you need to be sure that the results will be what you intended.

Displaying the Search Registry Settings page

You configure Registry values from the Search Registry Settings page. To display the page:

  1. On the Administration menu, click Site maintenance.
  2. On the Site Maintenance menu, click the Access Control tab.
  3. On the Access Control tab, click Registry settings.

Searching for a Registry setting

You can search for Registry settings using the following criteria:

Category The Registry settings are organized into a hierarchy of categories. To only display Registry settings that belong to a specific category, select the category from the combo box.

To select the category, begin typing the category name into the combo box field. The list is filtered to only include matching categories.

Note that in the Category combo box, the category displays as the last level followed in parenthesis by the full path. For example, the category /INTERFACE/XML/SET_POETIC_ENTITLEMENT displays in the combo box as SET_POETIC_ENTITLEMENT (/INTERFACE/XML/SET_POETIC_ENTITLEMENT). So to find the value by typing, you would type SET_POETIC_ENTITLEMENT.

Name/Description To search for settings based on text in the setting name or description, enter the text in the Name/Description field. The field supports partial criteria.

For example, to search for all settings with the word "entitlement" anywhere in the name or description, type %entitlement%.

Introduced To search for settings based on when they were added to Poetic:
  • From the Introduced dropdown, select Since, Equal, or Before to determine whether to include settings introduced since the specified build number, in the specified build number, or before the specified build number.
  • In the Build# field, type the build number.

For example, to filter the settings to include only those settings added in build 1555:

  • From the Introduced dropdown, select Equal.
  • In the Build# field, type 1555.

After providing the search criteria, click Search Registry Settings.

The matching settings display. The settings are grouped by category. For each setting, the list includes the name, description, current value, and usage notes.

Configuring a Registry setting

If you can configure a Registry setting, then a Configure link displays for that setting. If the setting is locked, then the word "Locked" displays instead. A setting usually is locked because it is associated with functionality that is not enabled for your instance of Poetic.

To configure a Registry setting, click its Configure link.

On the Configure Registry Value form:

  1. Use the Value field to set the current value.
  2. Use the Do not import check box to indicate whether to overwrite the setting with a value in an imported settings file.
  3. In the Notes field, enter any notes concerning why you are making this change to the Registry configuration.

After setting the value, click Save.

After updating a Registry setting, you must reset the cache.
