Adding or editing a carrier service
Configuring the carrier service
Resetting the cache and adding the carrier service to the list values
Carrier services are the shipping companies the publisher uses to ship physical products to customers. Users are prompted to select the carrier service depending on the settings for the order mode. Publishers set available shipping prices by loading a flat file of prices based on carrier service, country, currency, and weight. Customers may also be able to use their own account with a carrier service.
You manage carrier services from the List Carrier Services page.
To edit a carrier service, click the Edit link for the carrier service you want to edit.
The Carrier Service Maintenance page displays.
On the Carrier Service Maintenance page:
Carrier service | Required. In the Carrier service field, type the name of the carrier service. For example, Airborne Express Second Day. |
Active | To make the service available for use, check the Active check box. |
Carrier service code | Required. In the Carrier service code field, type the code to represent the carrier service in the Poetic database.
Once a carrier service has been assigned a code in the system, the code cannot be edited. |
Pub ID | Required. In the Pub ID field, type the identifier used by the publisher to refer to the service in the publisher's external systems. |
Tracking URL | In the Tracking URL field, type the URL that customers use to track the shipment of an order that uses this service. |
When you finish adding or editing a carrier service, you must reset the cache to propagate the change throughout the Poetic instance.
After you create the carrier service, you also need to use the list value maintenance function to add it to the list of carrier service values that users select from. See Editing and localizing list values.
